Eastfield Big Community Clean-up
Monday 20 September 2021
It’s ‘The Great Big Green Week 2021’ (20 – 24 September) and we’re excited to be partnering up with Scarborough Borough Council, Eastfield Town Council, Keep Scarborough Tidy Group and other local organisations within the Eastfield PACT partnership to support a Big Community Clean Up in Eastfield on Friday 24 September from 9am – 1pm.
Free community skips
There will be 8 community skips placed located around the estate:
- Capella Site – On the land at the bottom of Sandstone, Plough Lane and Glacier Lane (YO11 3FT)
- Westway – Outside the Holy Nativity Church (YO11 3EE)
- Merrydale – Where the old park used to be (YO11 3EH)
- Loders Green and Ryefield Road – On the corner (YO11 3LB)
- Eastfield Community Centre – High Street (YO11 3LL)
- Overdale/Gouldings Close – On the corner (YO11 3HB/YO11 3HD)
- Eastway Flats – Behind the flats (YO11 3LS)
- Beech Walk – Where garages used to be (YO11 3HN).
Asbestos, liquid chemicals, wet concrete, compressed gas bottles and commercial waste cannot be placed in the skips.
Electrical and white goods can be deposited by the side of the skips and will be collected separately. There will be people at the community centre on the morning of the clean-up to answer queries about the use of the skips.
A collection service will operate for anyone physically unable to take large items to one of the skips. Please call RB Recycling before Friday 24 September on 01723 582589 to arrange for unwanted items to be collected for you on the morning of the clean-up.
Litter pick
There will also be a litter pick which we are inviting all local residents to get involved in. If you can volunteer your time, please come along to the Eastfield Community Centre, High Street from 9am onwards. It would be great to see you!
Equipment for litter picking and cleaning up streets and green spaces will be provided. Efforts will also be boosted by a cleansing team with road sweeping vehicles and their high pressure cleaning machine.
Free refreshments will be provided for all volunteers. This will include a light breakfast before the start of the event, which will be served from 8.30am at Eastfield Community Centre.
Further information about the event is available from Billa Duggal on 01723 232445 or Councillor Tony Randerson on 07926 226904.
