Funding boost for the Friends of Westfield Farm
Beyond Housing has donated £500 to the Friends of Westfield Farm to support the vital community activities the group provides.
Formed on 1 October 2018, Beyond Housing is marking its first birthday by donating £500 to ten charities and community groups across the footprint it operates in, spanning from Redcar and Cleveland to Scarborough.
The group was set up to support the use of Dormanstown resource centre and community hub, Westfield Farm. The Friends of Westfield Farm work closely with the community, including local schools and other businesses and groups, with the goal of delivering social and educational activities to benefit the residents of Redcar and Cleveland.
The group organises a range of activities from bug hunts for schoolchildren to entertainment for nursing homes, coffee mornings and tea dances. The group’s volunteers also support Westfield Farm’s employability service helping to deliver job clubs, training and IT workshops.
The donation will help fund more community events and activities and will also support the work of the garden volunteers who make furniture, wheelbarrows and bird boxes and grow vegetables to sell at Westfield Farm.
Friends of Westfield Farm Secretary Ian Levett said: “We’d like to thank Beyond Housing for this generous donation which will help us to continue supporting our local community with an ongoing programme of social events and activities for our senior citizens.”
