Employment Support and Training
Case Study: Jake
Background
Jake was in his early twenties with no previous work experience and he didn’t know what he wanted to do for work. He had struggled to put together a CV and wasn’t sure where to look for suitable roles.
Story
When we first began supporting Jake, he was lacking in confidence and motivation due to his limited work experience. We started by creating a CV that was relevant to the skills he had, and we also identified suitable job roles and assisted him in applying for them.
During this time we also supported Jake with his interview skills by setting up mock interviews and we helped him overcome his work experience barrier by helping him find a work placement opportunity.
Outcomes
Since our team started working with Jake, he has come on leaps and bounds! His confidence has soared and he is super motivated to find a role that is perfect for him.
He’s had his first-ever job interview and although it went great, he was pipped to the post by another candidate with more experience. Fortunately, this didn’t put Jake off applying for other roles and he is continuing to hone his skills. He’s also now volunteering one day a week at the British Heart Foundation and is looking to add to his work experience by applying for a volunteer role within the Beyond Housing service centre.
‘Well done Jake, it’s been amazing to see you grow throughout your employment journey!’
