Regeneration at Church Lane North
As part of its commitment to invest in its communities, Beyond Housing is planning a large scale regeneration scheme at the Church Lane North estate in Eston.
Plans include demolition of selected properties, creation of new roads, on plot parking and private rear gardens, roofing and external wall insulation, along with around 33 new build properties for rent and shared ownership. The property mix will comprise of one, two, three and four bedroom houses, plus two and three bedroom bungalows.
Beyond Housing is committed to ensuring the voice of local residents is heard when it comes to their neighbourhood, and has therefore set up a working group made up of a mixture of residents, tenants and owner occupiers from the Church Lane North estate. This group is responsible for working together with Beyond Housing to oversee the regeneration plans for the estate.
The aspirations for the regeneration are to create an engaged, empowered and resilient community and improve the quality of life for residents on the estate – creating ‘an estate to be proud of’. Beyond Housing also plans to increase the sustainability of the estate by changing the mix of homes and the layout of the estate, which should both better meet housing demand and reduce anti-social behaviour and crime in the area.
The planning application has been submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council and is currently being determined, with the tender process for a contractor due to shortly follow.
