Reports of scam artists targeting Beyond Housing customers

Scams

Beyond Housing has issued a warning to customers amid reports of would-be scammers posing as employees from the company.

Beyond Housing has received a number of reports that customers have received phone calls and doorstep visits from individuals claiming to be from Beyond Housing and demanding bank details and payment, threatening them with eviction from their properties, if they fail to comply.

Steve Rawson, Chief Operations Officer at Beyond Housing, said: “We’d like to thank our customers for bringing this to our attention and we will do everything we can to quickly put a stop to this behaviour.

“We would like to remind all our customers to remain vigilant for potential criminals and that they should never give financial details to anyone they are unsure of. If a Beyond Housing colleague visits your home, they will always be able to present official identification. Likewise, if you receive a phone call and you are unsure who is calling, you can call back our main switchboard and ask to be put through to that person. If you have concerns about a visit or phone call you have received, you should contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information on the reported incidents is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
