Supporting local families with festive food bank collections

Our colleagues, suppliers and trusted partners have been working together to deliver a generous collection of festive donations for families in Redcar, Scarborough and Whitby who may be relying on food banks during Christmas and New Year.
Across recent weeks, teams gathered food, toiletries, hygiene essentials and baby supplies to help people who are facing difficulties through the winter period. The initiative brought together office colleagues, contractors and partner organisations who all contributed to the appeal, reflecting a shared commitment to community support at a time when many households are under pressure.
In addition to the food donations, some contractors donated cash to the scheme, which will enable each food bank and eco shop to receive a bonus of £630.
The donations were delivered to eight food banks and community eco shops. They included Saltburn Solidarity Food Bank, Footprints in the Community in Redcar, Dormanstown Primary School Eco and Farm Shop, Grangetown Primary School Eco Shop, Rainbow Centre in Scarborough, Westway Open Arms in Eastfield, Gallows Close Centre in Barrowcliff and Foodbank4Whitby. Each organisation supports families facing financial hardship, offering practical help alongside advice and wider community support.

Rachael Crooks, Community Partnership & Engagement Manager (Redcar) at Beyond Housing said: It is really great to see contractors and Beyond Housing come together to support our food banks and other charitable organisations. Christmas is such a hard time for those that are already struggling and we know that this donation in cash and food will go to those that need it. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our contractors and I hope next year they will join us again.’
Footprints in the Community in Redcar stated: ‘Once again we are so grateful to Beyond Housing and their contractors for supporting Footprints in the Community at this special time of year. Sadly so many people are struggling and your help is invaluable – thank you.’
Gallows Close Centre in Scarborough said: ‘We are truly grateful for the generous donation from Beyond Housing and their contractors. It has helped bring Christmas joy to our community. Thanks to this support, over 200 children in Barrowcliff received selection boxes at our Santa event, families enjoyed gifts and food at Santa’s breakfasts, 15 struggling households will receive essential food and presents, and 40 people will share a warm Christmas day lunch with gifts to take home. This kindness has made a real difference, ensuring that no one is left without festive cheer this year.’
This appeal forms part of our wider social value activity that supports residents and the communities. Alongside providing more than 15,000 homes across Redcar, Scarborough and Whitby, we also work with schools, charities, food banks and voluntary groups to deliver projects that improve wellbeing, build resilience and help neighbourhoods thrive.
The donations are expected to be distributed throughout the Christmas holiday and into January, helping local food banks meet seasonal demand and ensuring families have access to essential supplies at a time when budgets can be stretched.
