A new development for survivors of domestic abuse in Scarborough
As part of Scarborough Borough Council’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy and Review 2019-2023, a new development for survivors of domestic abuse for the town was identified as a key priority. Scarborough Borough Council Cabinet gave agreement to undertake a selection process to secure a registered provider to take forward the development.
Beyond Housing submitted a bid proposal, based on its experience in delivering successful schemes of a similar nature in Teesside. Beyond’s proposal was identified as ‘a clear winner’ and approved by Scarborough Borough Council’s Cabinet in May 2020. The council also agreed to the sale of the land to Beyond Housing to enable the development.
Clare Harrigan, Head of Development and Regeneration at Beyond Housing, said: “This development will provide a valuable, much-needed asset to support survivors of domestic violence.
“We have a strong track record of delivering this type of scheme in other locations, and look forward to bringing this long-awaited service to Scarborough through our partnership with Scarborough Borough Council.”
