Beyond Housing welcomes first tenants

Beyond Housing has welcomed its first two tenants following the launch of the new organisation, a partnership between Coast & Country and Yorkshire Coast Homes.

Patricia Moore, 82, is moving into extra care housing development, The Dunes in Redcar, after being nominated by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council as needing help to continue living independently. She has lived in a privately rented home in the town for the last 12 years but is moving to The Dunes to receive support to remain living a fulfilling life, in a safe environment.

The Dunes provides 64 one and two bedroomed high-quality, modern apartments that offer a secure and supportive environment for people aged 55 and over. It provides residents with a local community on their doorstep, with outlets such as a hairdressing salon part of the extensive communal facilities. Members of the public can also use the amenities, meaning residents feel part of the local community.

19-year-old Chloe Sorrell and her two-year-old daughter will soon be happily settling into their new home in South Bank. After living in a privately rented house she approached Beyond Housing to find a stable, long-term home with a landlord she could rely on. In a happy coincidence, Chloe’s brother has also just accepted a property in South Bank from Beyond Housing and will soon be moving to live close to his sister and niece.

Lesley Conroy, Head of Communities North at Beyond Housing said: “Although the two partner organisations had tens of thousands of tenants who are now customers of Beyond Housing, it’s special that the new company has welcomed its first customers. Patricia and Chloe have very different housing needs, which just goes to show the breadth of property types we have that they’ve both found a perfect home with us. We hope they both enjoy living in their new homes as customers of Beyond Housing.”
