Governance structure

Beyond Housing operates as a Community Benefit Society and is registered with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), ensuring we meet the standards expected of registered housing providers.

Governance

The Beyond Housing Group board is responsible for setting the organisation’s vision, purpose, values, and strategic direction, ensuring the long-term success of the Group. Meeting at least four times a year, alongside dedicated strategy events the Group board sets and drives the achievement of the organisation’s mission and values; it sets ambitious strategies and oversees the delivery of these; and it actively manages the risks faced by the organisation, obtains assurance over control effectiveness, and ensures that the organisation is financially viable.

The Group board is supported by the following committees:

Audit and risk committee

The audit and risk committee helps ensure Beyond Housing remains a well-managed, resilient and accountable organisation. It provides independent oversight of risk, assurance and internal controls, giving the Board confidence that we are managing risk effectively, protecting our assets and meeting our legal and regulatory responsibilities. The committee also oversees internal and external audit activity and monitors the effectiveness of our governance and compliance arrangements, helping us maintain high standards and make informed decisions.

Governance and review committee

The governance and review committee helps ensure Beyond Housing has the leadership, culture and governance arrangements needed to deliver positive outcomes for customers and communities. The committee oversees board and committee effectiveness, succession planning, recruitment and development, ensuring we have the right skills, knowledge and experience around the table. It also provides oversight of organisational culture, colleague engagement and equality, diversity and inclusion, supporting our commitment to being a fair, inclusive and values-led organisation.

Investment committee

The investment committee oversees Beyond Housing’s strategic investment activities to ensure they support the delivery of our business strategy.  It provides oversight of development, regeneration, asset investment, sustainability, and net zero initiatives, helping to ensure our investment decisions create lasting value. The committee monitors performance, value for money and strategic risks, providing assurance that our investment programmes are delivering benefits for customers, strengthening communities and supporting the future success of Beyond Housing.

Governance effectiveness

The board undertakes regular assurance reviews to ensure that its governance arrangements are operating well and efficiently, publishing a summary of the outcomes of this review in the annual report and financial statements.
