DWP extends household support fund to help with cost of living
Tuesday 3 September 2024
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that it is extending the household support fund until April 2025.
The £421m extension to the government’s hardship fund will help “the most vulnerable” over winter, according to the government. It will also see an additional £79m allocated to devolved administrations.
The fund is intended to meet daily needs at times of crisis. It could be in the form of vouchers to cover the costs of food and utilities, free school meals over the holidays, or employment and financial advice.
