Overview

At Beyond Housing we offer a wide range of work experience placements. Work experience provides individuals a valuable way of gaining hands-on experience in a work environment, allowing them to gain an insight and better understanding in their chosen area of interest.

Our work experience placements are mutually beneficial – they support the individual to develop their confidence, communication and work skills, whilst also enabling teams within Beyond Housing to support learning, skill building and increase professional development across the organisation.

Student placement success

In February 2026, we were thrilled to welcome two Scarborough UTC students to Beyond Housing. One student joined our ICT team to explore our internal support services, the other student spent time with our Reach & Respond team, and learned all about the variety of roles within the service, whilst getting out into the community to see our responders in action.

The experience was incredibly positive not only for the students, but also for the teams who supported them.

A Beyond Housing colleague shared: “This young person lifted everyone around them. Happy, incredibly intelligent, funny – they fitted into the surroundings effortlessly. We all hope they come back again. They were a bit of an inspiration to be honest – loved them!”

The student said: “I absolutely loved my week at Beyond Housing – I learnt so much and everyone was so kind.”

The student’s family told us: “They came home animated every day and excited for the next. They’ve already said they want to come back next year, and they want to work for you!”

Scarborough UTC added: “They loved it and said that it was a great week – thank you for giving them the opportunity, and thank you to your team for giving them a great experience.”
