Tees Valley Move Forward Project
Overview
The Tees Valley Move Foward (TVMF) programme supports customers who are economically inactive or long-term sick, with their personal growth and self improvement. Our employability caseworkers ensure customers get the right support to meet their goals and aspirations.
The support can include:
• Building confidence and self esteem
• Joining and accessing community groups
• Job searching, work experience and training
• Maximising financial support and benefit entitlement
• Addressing any barriers that may stop a customer from meeting their personal goals.

Katie signed up for our support through the Tees Valley Move Foward programme in August 2023, seeking assistance in returning to employment. After taking time off to raise her family, she felt it was the right moment to re-enter the workforce now that her children had started school. Katie has a caring nature and possesses many qualities that would benefit an employer; however, she needed flexible hours to accommodate her family. With a keen interest in the care sector, she completed a 6-week course in Health and Social Care, which she successfully passed.
We assisted Katie in applying for a New Start position with Caremark, by providing guidance with her CV and cover letter and preparing her for the interview. Katie excelled in the interview and was offered an immediate start. To help with her new role, we provided Katie with vouchers to purchase suitable work shoes.
Katie has now been employed with Caremark for 6 months, and she said, “The New Start Scheme really helped me get back on the ladder.” We’re very proud of Katie and what she has achieved. She’s a great example of how it is possible to have a career alongside a busy family life.
