Expansion of extra care scheme into bungalows
Our flagship extra care scheme, The Dunes in Redcar, is expanding to provide 10 specially designed, purpose built, two and three-bedroom bungalows for older people and people with disabilities in Redcar and Cleveland who need care and support to help them live independently. These six two-bedroom and four three-bedroom bungalows boast specially designed features to meet the changing needs of their occupiers, with a carefully planned layout and access to care and support services.
Delivered in partnership with Esh Living, the affordable housing division of Esh Group, the bungalows are part of a wider £7m scheme of 54 homes across four sites in Redcar. This includes 17 houses on Byland Close and 23 houses and 4 apartments on Wykeham Close, all for affordable rent.
Handover from Esh is expected to commence in spring 2020, with all homes completed by autumn 2020.
Frances Barlow, Development Manager at Beyond Housing, said: “This is a really exciting development for Beyond Housing, providing much-needed affordable homes adjacent to our successful extra care scheme, The Dunes. Thanks to a great partnership with our colleagues at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, getting the green light on the development of these new homes has been a really smooth process.
“At Beyond Housing we are absolutely committed to delivering high quality homes which meet all the needs of our customers, and contribute to the prosperity and regeneration of our communities.
“Providing a full complement of age-range appropriate accommodation in the vicinity, allows for a seamless transition for members of our ageing population who may move into our adjacent site, The Dunes.”
Louise Buckton, Commercial Director of Esh Living said: “It’s great to be working on this brilliant scheme with Beyond Housing which is a fantastic investment for the area. We believe in the importance of building for all tenures and understand there is a real need for this form of accommodation.
“We are looking forward to engaging with the local community and schools across the area to provide a range of social value initiatives whilst delivering this project on behalf of Beyond Housing.”
