The Shore

The Shore supported housing development provides adults with learning disabilities an innovative housing choice in Redcar and Cleveland.

With 12 high quality spacious one bedroom homes, residents receive an assessed care package, allowing them to live independently. Everyday life at The Shore means being part of a supportive community.

Everyone has the opportunity to live life as they choose, with access to varying levels of independence and support. Living at The Shore means you get your own home, with your own front door and your own freedom to live independently. However, be assured that this comfort also brings with it a safe and secure environment with the following facilities:

  • Door entry system with intercom to each apartment
  • Communal areas for social activities
  • Accessible bathing
  • Lift providing access to all floors
  • Landscaped gardens and seating
  • Visitors parking area.

As a resident at The Shore, you will have access to 24-hour on-site care and support for anyone with an assessed need, along with the availability of additional services tailored to meet individual needs.

Our aim is to provide each of our residents with a secure home for life in a safe and supported environment.

Location

A space of your own

All 12 of these attractive apartments have been specifically designed to meet the needs of people with a learning disability.

The apartments are spacious and each one has its own front door for added security; ensuring residents have complete control of who comes through it.

Each apartment has a modern kitchen, level access shower, door entry with intercom and emergency alarms.

In addition, the whole development at The Shore provides easy access for people in wheelchairs, including lift access to the upper floor.

For eligibility residents will have a learning disability, be 18 years and over have a full assessment of need and meet the eligibility criteria set by the local authority at the time.

Sanctuary Supported Living

At The Shore, Sanctuary Supported Living provides Care Quality Commission registered care and support for adults with learning disabilities who have a range of support needs. Staff are on-site 24 hour hours a day, seven days a week to give support when it’s needed and for added safety and security.

Residents and staff work closely together to agree a structured and personalised support plan to identify goals and aspirations. Progress towards these targets is regularly monitored and reviewed, with the plan updated to reflect any changing needs.

All care and support at The Shore always promotes residents’ dignity, independence, choice, control, equality and privacy. Residents are encouraged to lead a fulfilling life, build lasting friendships and live as independently as possible. To achieve this we offer a wide range of support, advice and assistance, including:

  • One-to-one support sessions
  • Reassurance and emotional support
  • Community integration
  • Managing finances
  • Maintaining tenancy
  • Cooking, cleaning and shopping
  • Medication and personal care
  • Developing social skills.
