Key points

• Housing Officers Gillian Harrison and Simon Barron began the walk at Chapelbeck bungalows
• PCSO Megan from Cleveland Police also joined the walk
• It was a productive walk around the area
• Local issues were discussed
• Several residents came out to share what matters most to them.

• Focus area was Thrushwood Crescent/Wheatacre Close estate
• Housing Officer Andrea Portland coordinated the walkabout and colleagues from the following teams also came along; assets services, planning, scheduling, customer services, neighbourhoods and some of our apprentices
• It was an excellent turnout with an attendance of 19 people, including residents who were very passionate
• Cleveland Fire Brigade and Cllr Dr Tristan Learoyd also joined us
• Overall, the location was clean and tidy
• One area was identified for a litterpick
• Suggested estate improvements to be carried out included:
  • Green areas
  • Parking
  • Fencing.

Key points

• Everyone met at Skinningrove Hall and first attended a local community coffee morning – it was a great opportunity for our team to connect with local residents over a cuppa
• Colleagues from our East Cleveland team attended including; management, housing officers, repairs and administration teams
• We completed a walk of the estate noting any community issues along the way
• There were no issues to report on the High Street area
• At Marine Terrace, residents stopped to tell us how happy they were in their bungalows, which was pleasing to hear
  • We also gave them advice on a garden query
• Prior to the walkabout we were made aware of a communal path not being maintained.We inspected this and emailed photos to the neighbourhoods team. We also requested general tidy up and continued maintenance of the area.

• Housing Officer Beth Evans coordinated the walkabout and colleagues from housing, assets, learning and development, HR, scheduling and the neighbourhood teams attended
• Partner organisations joined the walk including Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Community Link Officer, Cllr Stephen Martin, LIAISE Officer – Loan Sharks and the Cleveland Police Neighbourhood team
• We began the walkabout at Whale Hill Community Centre and visited; Ainthorpe Road, Birchington Avenue, Castleton Road, Ellerby Road, Fabian Road, Sandsend Road and Wilton Way
• We picked up on many areas affected by fly-tipping and raised jobs for our caretakers to remove it
• We provided reassurance on garden cases we were currently working on
• Neighbourhood improvements included sorting out a road sign for Ellerby Road. This action was picked up by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

• Colleagues from housing, assets, employability, neighbourhoods and the repairs teams attended the walk
• North Yorkshire Police and NYC Community Impact Team also joined us
• Apologies were given from local Cllr Subash Sharma  
• The neighbourhoods team supported customers on Butterbur Lane and Millers Court with removal of unwanted household items
• Estate improvements have been identified and work is being planned in for:
  • Path repairs at Chichester Close
  • Feather board fencing renewal and some new letterboxes at Butterbur Lane.

Key points

• This was the first ‘feet on the street’ event for our newly formed East Cleveland team
• Open spaces were mostly clean and tidy thanks to the teams ongoing efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB) and fly-tipping
• We visited a property recently subject to an ASB closure order – a great example of effective partnership work
• A visit to a ‘void’ property showed good progress  made on repairs ahead of reletting
• A few challenges were identified including; untidy gardens, a SORN vehicle on our land, and a potentially unsafe communal light
  • The light was reported immediately to ensure customer safety
• Had a discussion about a community clean-up day and how it may be beneficial for the local community
• All items raised will be added to the team’s action plan for the area.

Key points

• Held a community chat with customers at Beck Hole Community Centre
• Eight customers joined the team for a walk around the area
• The estate caretaking team removed two tipper vans full of bulk items and waste for customers
• Identified several challenges:
  • Trip hazards on communal pathways
  • Overgrown trees
  • Moss and weeds behind the community centre
  • Litter in some communal spaces
• All items raised will be added to the team’s action plan for the area.

  • They shared that they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, meeting the partnership group and discussing the local area
• Reviewed physical interventions made through the Clear Hold Build project,
  • Shared updates on current work and future opportunities
  • Inspector Tom Wilkinson praised Beyond Housing’s commitment and investment in the Clear Hold Build project
• Discussed a potential green space project, with funding support offered from Cllr Sharma’s locality budget
• Identified some challenges such as:
  • Fly-tipping
  • External repairs
  • Other general issues.

Key points

• Four customers attended part of the event with one resident joining us for the full walkabout and sharing valuable insights
• Identified some challenges:
  • Anti-social behaviour around the flats caused by young people
    • We are currently working closely with the school, Cleveland Police and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council (RCBC) to identify those involved and safeguard residents
  • Fly-tipping and litter – particularly around Highfell, Lingholme, Westmorland, Rosgill and Devon Close
    • Reported to our Neighbourhood’s team and Redcar Council to for action
• Provided advice to residents on how to report ASB and fly-tipping
• Residents highlighted the green space on Hopgill Walk as a positive community feature
  • The area was clean and well maintained thanks to a joint improvement project by Beyond Housing and Ladies of the Lakes
• Discussed a follow up visit with the local councillor, RCBC and Cleveland Police to strengthen partnerships and progress community actions
