Final call for apprenticeship applications in Redcar and Cleveland

Friday 28 June 2024

We are issuing a final reminder for interested individuals to apply for new apprenticeship opportunities before the closing date on Sunday 7 July.

The apprenticeships, across a range of operations, offer valuable practical experience and professional qualifications. They provide local young people with the opportunity to earn a wage while studying their chosen profession at the same time.

The apprenticeship programme is part of Beyond Housing’s commitment to developing local talent, especially encouraging applications from residents of Beyond Housing homes and customers of its employability services, with a goal to allocate at least 50% of the roles to these groups.

Apprenticeships with us usually span two years, with one day per week spent at college and the rest obtaining hands-on work experience. Apprentice maintenance operative roles are new for this year, giving apprentices on-the-job experience in tasks relevant to all property maintenance, including repairing walls, carpentry and joinery, tiling, plastering, painting and decorating, basic plumbing and safe electrical isolation – offering a taster of all major trades for young people before they choose to specialise if they wish.

Maria Taylor, Apprentice & Volunteer Team Leader at Beyond Housing, said: “Apprenticeships are a great way to start your chosen career path, you have the benefit of working with industry professionals whilst gaining the skills and knowledge needed to fulfil the role alongside being paid.

At Beyond Housing, we offer an inclusive programme which really supports individuals throughout their apprenticeship journey. We are excited to welcome our new apprentices to Beyond Housing and to see where these opportunities may take them, could you be our next apprentice?”

Annie Williams, Digital Marketing Apprentice at Beyond Housing, said: “I started my Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship in 2021, where I gained a strong foundation in transferrable skills which opened doors to explore various career paths.

“After completing this apprenticeship, I transferred into Beyond Housing’s Digital Marketing team and now, I’m excited to further develop my expertise in this area with a Level 4 Digital Marketing apprenticeship. The programme has been an invaluable learning experience and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”
