Important customer safety notice from Ideal Heating and Beyond Housing 

Ideal Heating has identified a potential issue with a small number of its boilers. They have confirmed that there is no immediate risk to customers and you should continue to use your heating and hot water as normal. 

What is the problem? 

In the small proportion of boilers affected, if an excessive volume of air has been trapped inside, it may cause the boiler to overheat and fail.  

 

Will they be fixed? 

Ideal Heating has issued a safety upgrade to be applied to boilers manufactured between August 2022 and 7 January 2024. We are awaiting further instructions and guidance from Ideal Heating to complete the necessary safety upgrade. Affected customers will be contacted to arrange an appointment once the industry standard updates have been released. 

 

Which boilers could be affected? 

Approximately 1 in 10,000 boilers are affected across the following ranges: 

  • Logic Combi2  
  • Logic System2  
  • Logic + Combi2  
  • Logic + System2  
  • Logic Max Combi2  
  • Logic Max System2  
  • iMini2  
  • Independent Combi2  
  • Keston Combi2  
  • Keston System2. 

 

Please note, this does not mean every boiler from one of the ranges above is affected. 

 

What extra precautions does Beyond Housing take? 

Your safety is our top priority. All boilers installed by Beyond Housing have been tested in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.  

For further reassurance, we also carry out annual gas safety checks alongside the necessary tests on boilers where in-depth repairs have been carried out. We can confirm that there have been no reports of any defects to our boilers to date.

Scarborough

Our in-house team will be responsible for the majority of work in Scarborough area (YO postcodes), including gas safety checks, repairs, and purpose-entered tickets.

Ideal may perform warranty work or visit customers upon request.

What to expect

We will contact you to confirm an appointment for the upgrade.

A Beyond Housing Gas Heating Engineer will attend the appointment, complete the safety upgrade and a gas safety check, which will take approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

Redcar

If you live in Redcar or the surrounding areas with a TS postcode, our in-house team will only perform gas safety checks or gas boiler repairs. For all other services, Ideal will take care of them.

What to expect

Ideal Heating will send you a letter to arrange an appointment for the upgrade.

An Ideal Heating Gas Heating Engineer will attend the appointment and complete the safety upgrade, which will take approximately one hour. It is important to carry out this work to ensure your boiler operates safely and efficiently.

This safety upgrade should be completed within three months.

If your boiler is due a landlord’s Gas Safety Check before this work is done, Beyond Housing will complete the safety upgrade, providing the upgrade kits are available.
