We have achieved the Continuing Excellence level in the Better Health at Work Award scheme
Monday 29 January 2024
We have reached the Continuing Excellence level in the Better Health at Work Award scheme, following silver and gold awards in the previous two years. This year’s award reflects a sustained programme of campaigns aimed at supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of our colleagues.
Having been awarded the silver level award in 2022 and gold level in 2023, our team of health advocates used feedback from the judging panel as inspiration for this year’s submission.
Over the past twelve months, the team have arranged a number of challenges and initiatives including: health checks, step challenges, wellness calls, mental health talks, a pre-retirement workshop, football tournaments, financial support, men’s and women’s health support, and training of a further 11 mental health first aiders.
The Better Health at Work Award encourages employers in the North East to put their colleagues’ health at the core of their values and demonstrate how they are developing year on year.
There are five levels to the award – bronze, silver, gold, continuing excellence and maintaining excellence, with appropriate criteria at each stage to build into an award portfolio.
On our submission this year, the Better Health at Work assessors concluded: “This is an excellent submission once again. Beyond Housing holds itself to high standards and it shows; they aspire and commit to them, so I’m very sure that they will continue to do what they need to deliver on becoming an employer of choice.
“This assessment was a pleasure to read and undertake, with everyone involved fully invested in delivering the best for their colleagues and organisation, and very receptive to any opportunities/suggestions to enable that. I look forward to seeing what comes next.”
Catherine Clennett, Director of People at Beyond Housing, added: “At Beyond Housing we are very proud of all the work our health advocates has done and how that is evidence of a collaborative and caring community ethos amongst colleagues. We genuinely believe that the well-being of all our colleagues is really important, and we are proud of our truly inclusive culture.”
Beyond Housing previously achieved the bronze award in 2019, silver in 2022 and gold in 2023.
