Supporting the Tees Valley Women’s Centre
Thursday 29 August 2024
We recently answered a call for help with re-painting the main hall and entrance area of the Tees Valley Women’s Centre, which offers a safe and inclusive space where women can access education, training, and personal development opportunities with the added support of free childcare within an onsite nursery.
With the size of the centre making a planned redecoration project extremely costly, the management team reached out for some volunteer support and six members of our painting team happily took up the challenge.
Starting briskly with the requested main hall and entrance areas, the team also managed to repaint the nursery and some offices.
Welcome support came in from PPG Johnstone’s Paints, who supplied the paint, and PB Joinery who kindly provided new radiator covers for the nursery area.
Our Capital Works Team Leader, Steve Allan, who joined the volunteers, said:
“The whole experience was fantastic, it gave our team a chance to work on the type of work we don’t normally do, and it provided a great experience for George Bailey, one of our apprentices.”
Speaking of Beyond Housing’s contribution to the project, Tees Valley Women’s Centre Manager Donna Middleton said:
“We could not have done this without them, when I say they have been amazing I mean amazing, nothing has been any bother to them at all, they’ve all been so helpful and gone over and above to help us here. Great lads and a credit to Beyond Housing”.
