Beyond Housing supports food bank donations

Beyond Housing has funded a mammoth shopping trip to help stock the shelves at two local community groups which have been providing food parcels for vulnerable people in Grangetown, South Bank, Whale Hill, Redcar and surrounding areas over recent weeks.

Beyond Housing Housing Officers Rachael Crooks and Faye Daniels responded to concerns raised by the Whale Hill Community Centre and Chris Cave Foundation, about the ever-increasing number of families now coming to them for help, by delivering a van load of food and household essentials to help replenish their supplies.

The shopping was purchased with a £1,200 donation from Beyond Housing’s community fund and the deliveries were facilitated by Lee Harding, from Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, who kindly volunteered his services along with the use of his van.

Whale Hill Community centre has been providing much needed support to more than 100 families since the pandemic began, while the Chris Cave Foundation is currently delivering 60 weekly hampers to households in need, along with an additional 60 to families referred to them on an emergency basis.

Theresa Cave, founder of the Chris Cave Foundation, said: “We were so pleased and grateful to receive this wonderful, kind donation. I couldn’t believe how much was delivered! The food will go to help provide 60 families with plenty to last them for a week.”

Faye Daniels, Beyond Housing Housing Officer, added: “We are so pleased that this donation from Beyond Housing will support these vital community groups so they can continue their exceptional work over the coming weeks”.
