Double win at Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Awards

Thursday 21 August 2025

We are proud to have scooped two top honours at the Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Awards 2025, taking home both the Large-Scale Project of the Year and Housing Association of the Year titles.

The awards ceremony took place in Leeds in July 2025, celebrating organisations across the region making outstanding contributions to sustainability and energy efficiency.

The Large-Scale Project of the Year award was presented in recognition of our £2.2 million retrofit scheme at Hungate Court, a 32-flat sheltered housing block in Hunmanby, Filey.

Delivered in partnership with E.ON Green Funding Solutions and supported by £650,000 from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), the project has significantly improved comfort and energy efficiency for residents. It is expected to save each household an average of more than £630 per year on their energy bills, while reducing annual carbon emissions by 81 tonnes.

The project included the installation of solar panels, energy-efficient windows, wall insulation and a shared ground source heat pump system. The award is for an ‘exceptional regional project where energy efficiency measures of over £250,000 have been delivered, recognising the collaboration and quality workmanship involved, alongside excellent customer service throughout.’

We were also named Housing Association of the Year, a title awarded to an ‘outstanding housing provider that has shown a true commitment to energy efficiency within their region. The award acknowledges organisations leading by example in sustainability, innovation and community impact across their housing stock and services.’

Richard Cooper, Director of Asset & Sustainability at Beyond Housing (pictured), said:

“We’re incredibly proud of the strong collaboration with our team, suppliers and partners, including E.ON, who have all made this project a standout success in sustainability, innovation, and community impact.

We are also so proud of our colleagues, who very much deserve this recognition for all their hard work, passion, and dedication. Together, we are driving real change, building a greener, more energy-efficient future for our customers and communities.”

The Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Awards recognise best practice on projects and organisations that are improving homes and cutting carbon through innovative, people-focused delivery across the region.
