Customer forum member profiles
Our customer forum is made up of customers who generously give their time, experience and insight to help shape how we deliver, manage and improve our services. Each member brings their own perspective, helping us better understand what really matters to the people who use our services every day.
By listening, challenging and sharing feedback, the forum provides independent oversight and assurance to our Board, ensuring customer voices influence decisions at the highest level.

David trained as a chef before spending 15 years in the entertainment industry and later owning several public houses. With a career built around engaging with the public, he brings strong people skills and a practical understanding of community life.
Originally from Leeds and a lifelong Leeds United fan, David moved to Scarborough around 17 years ago and has been a Beyond Housing tenant for the past 14 years. Now working as a taxi driver, he continues to enjoy meeting and supporting people from all walks of life.
A strong believer in social justice, David joined the customer forum to help ensure fairness, accountability and a strong voice for customers within decision-making.

Clare worked in the NHS for 28 years as a nurse, specialising in psychosocial interventions and supporting vulnerable adults and young people. Her career reflects a lifelong commitment to care, compassion and advocacy.
Now retired due to ill health, Clare lives in an assisted bungalow and brings valuable lived experience to the customer forum. As a mum and grandma, she is passionate about fairness, dignity and ensuring services truly meet the needs of those who rely on them most.

Karen is a shared ownership customer with Beyond Housing and brings a wealth of experience from a long career in finance and education. She has a strong understanding of policies, procedures and regulatory frameworks, and is skilled in objective scrutiny and review.
Karen joined the customer forum to make a meaningful contribution and help ensure all customers have a genuine voice in shaping services. She believes in fairness, accountability and driving improvement – not change for the sake of it, but change that makes a real difference.

Stephen lives in a Beyond Housing home and brings both personal and professional insight to the customer forum. Following a career in the energy sector, he developed a strong eye for detail and a deep understanding of processes, complaints handling and policy review. He likes to understand the “why” behind decisions and is passionate about fairness, accountability and continuous improvement.
Now a full-time carer for a relative, Stephen is committed to using his experience to help ensure customer voices genuinely shape services.
