Kian’s employment success
Kian joined our support program in May 2024, eager to find a new direction for his life. Having recently completed his Level 2 Construction Multi Skills at Middlesbrough College, he was facing challenges in finding work in that sector and wanted to explore other opportunities.
We began by discussing Kian’s interests, likes, and dislikes, and explored potential training and employment options. With his positive mental attitude, Kian was determined to work and chose not to register for Universal Credit. He had previously worked in a local pizza shop, where he developed excellent customer service skills.
From the start, it was clear that Kian was a ‘people person’ who wanted a hands-on career with varied work, rather than a job in an office environment.
Kian decided to pursue a career in the security sector, with a long-term goal of working in close protection so we enrolled him in the entrance test for the Security Industry Authority (SIA) course at Middlesbrough College. He passed the test with flying colours but was not eligible for the course due to previous enrolment. Despite this setback, we reassured Kian and sought another training provider.
We found a local company, Vistech, that also offered the course, and we provided funding for Kian to attend. In December 2024, he successfully passed and received his SIA badge, qualifying him to work in security.
To ensure Kian was prepared for all weather conditions, we also funded waterproof clothing and boots, making him job ready for immediate opportunities. Kian is now waiting to start a follow -up CCTV course to further enhance his qualifications and open more doors for his future.
Kian is making great progress and working hard to achieve his long-term goals, and we will continue to support him every step of the way!
