Case Study: Alex
Background
Alex came to us in 2023 after graduating from university. She was struggling to gain employment, despite having achieved an english degree and consequently, she lacked confidence even though she had so much to offer employers.
Story
Alex started her volunteering role at Westfield Farm as a Social Media Assistant. She volunteered weekly and was a great support with creating new content and promoting the services.
At one of Alex’s volunteer reviews, we chatted about how she could gain further work experience to expand her skill set, and decided that a work experience placement would be a great way to do this.
We arranged for Alex to complete a work experience week with our Communications team and she gained a lot from this. Alex told us how supportive the team were and that she learned about scheduling posts and also supported with creating of some of Beyond Housing’s winter campaigns for digital media.
Outcome
Alex was so motivated to find employment and later in the year she was offered an apprenticeship with the Home Office. Alex accepted the offer, however the role meant she would have to up sticks and relocate to Liverpool. Not only is Alex now in secure, paid employment, she’s living her best life in the big city and we couldn’t be happier for her!
