Case Study: Joe
Background
Joe got in touch and started with our YEI team who supported him with his CV, applications and interview prep, as he didn’t have much work experience.
Story
Joe knew it was a good idea to gain some real work experience, so he began volunteering once a week at Westfield Farm on reception. Joe was supported and encouraged by his colleagues resulting in his self-esteem and confidence really improving and he’s gone from strength to strength with the support of Westfield Farm. Whilst volunteering, Joe registered for a customer service course with a local provider, which will gave him further knowledge and skills which he can utilise in many employment sectors.
Outcomes
Joe realised that he has a lot to offer an employer and he applied to Beyond Housing for a Housing Administration position. Although he was pipped to the post, Joe impressed the hiring managers so much that he was placed into the Beyond Housing talent pool.
Due to Joe’s potential, we were also able to arrange for him to undertake a work experience placement with our Housing Administration team, to provide him with some practical on-the-job experience. He received so much positive feedback which was another boost for his confidence.
Finally, Joe saw an opportunity to work for Beyond Housing as an apprentice. He applied, went along to the assessment days and we’re so pleased to say that he was successful in securing a role with our HR team. He’s settled in super well with his colleagues and is really happy to be learning while he is earning!
